D.C.S., C. Psych. Assoc., RP, Ph.D. (Med Sci)

Paula has been a Member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) since 2002. She is presently a professional member of the Council at the CPO and participates in various committees. Paula partakes in the College’s mandate to protect the public’s interest through monitoring and regulating the practice of psychology in Ontario. Paula is passionate about integrated, multidisciplinary, coordinated care and serving children and youth in an equitable, sustainable, evidence-based way. She became cross-registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario in 2015 to further increase the capacity of school-based mental health care support to meet growing demand.

Paula is excited to join the Kindercare family as the various sites bridge care between the medical and psychological spheres. Paula has received training in hospitals, school boards, and private practice throughout the years. Her academic training has occurred exclusively at the University of Toronto, in the Faculty of Arts and Science (psychology) and the Faculty of Medicine (clinical-evaluations science and population health). Her orientations are primarily cognitive-behavioural and solutions-focused, utilizing aspects of mindfulness and acceptance techniques and positive psychology methods. She is published in well-respected journals and, more recently, has presented on mental health literacy and suicide prevention at the International Association of Suicide Prevention (IASP) conference in Australia and at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention AFSP/IASR conference in Spain. As a parent of two children, she acutely understands the journey of navigating clinical and educational care. Paula has a particular interest in continuing to reduce barriers to mental health support.
